Evening Service Sunday 23rd November 2025

by Graham Smith

What a Blessing last Evening was

With just a handful of souls 10 in total  made up of Richard, Ian, Dylan, John, Dolores, Adam myself and a new couple on holiday, Fleur and Adrian from Exeter,

And of course Jesus the main Man.

For the word is clear where two or three are gathered together in My Name there am I in the midst.

And 23rd November 2025 our Lord was in the midst of us..

What a joy to see a new couple celebrating 32 years of marriage coming to give thanks and worship the Saviour. And afterwards seeing the Lord shining from our sister’s face.

The sermon was about the two disciples on the road to Emmaus as they walked head down and despondent as they mulled over the recent tragic events. Their Rabbi Jesus had just been crucified and three days later the news that the tomb was empty and the body of Jesus nowhere to be seen. The two Mary’s had said that angels had asked them why do you seek the living amongst the dead?

They returned to the disciples and told them, Peter an John had run to the tomb and confirmed that Jesus wasn’t there. As they walked talked and mused Jesus joined them asking why are you so sad, and as they retold them events Jesus said according to the scriptures shouldn’t he have

suffered like this and he opened up the scriptures to them from Moses to the current day. Yet they still didn’t realise that it was Jesus speaking to them. As they arrived at their destination, pleasantries were said and Jesus made to carry on walking, they said come and stay with us tonight and tell us more. They sat down to eat and Jesus took the bread blessed it and their eyes were opened to realise that it was Jesus who had been with them and he vanished from them. Immediately they returned to the other disciples and relayed what had happened.

The message was how disappointed we get when things seem to be In turmoil when nothing seems to work out as we expect. Yet the Christian knows from the scriptures that all things work together for goodto those who love God and are Called According wHis Purpose. Throughout the Scriptures we read example after example of how God always comes through for you. simply trust Him that is all we have to do.

God Never Fails for Love Conquers All.
