Who We Are
The Olive Tree Church is an Evangelical Pentecostal church located in the coastal village of Wembury,.South Devon, near Plymouth.
We are a welcoming Christ Centred Christian fellowship committed to preaching and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Worship, Prayer, Bible teaching, Evangelising and Serving our local community.
Our small assembly of believers is a mix that spans the generations and all are welcomed no matter your situation or circumstances. Our creed is that we love one another, judging our own selves, just as Jesus teaches us, Do Not judge others but rather to judge our selves.
So all are welcome as Christ has welcomed us.
The Hymn writer Puts it so well
Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bid’st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!
Charlotte Elliott (1789-1871)
Are you are searching for that something that you know is missing/?
Please come along one evening and learn more about Jesus and His amazing love. He Is The Way The Truth And The Life. He Really Is.
What We Believe
We Believe that the Bible is the Word Of God, without compromise and just as it is written.
Religion is a man thought up concept used to control people.
The Bible is Gods Word that teaches guides instructs and advises what is the best path for us all to walk. Quite simple really, The Author Jesus put it like this
God has hidden it from the wise and prudent and revealed it to young children.
Jesus also said he that has ears to hear let him hear. Jesus knew that man can have very selective hearing, hearing what he wants to hear. discarding the rest.
I had a lad working for me and, after giving him instructions of how to proceed, he would choose to do what he liked doing and ignore those he disliked.
The problem with this approach is that nothing goes right looks right or feels right.
A man came to Jesus and said “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” John 2:2-3
It is all about Preparation think what that means, from all perspectives.
It makes sence to prepare, dont’t be like the foolish ones and leave it all to chance.
The Benefit
Have you noticed in life that everything has a consequence, every action causes something to happen.
The consequences of being born again is that you become a new creature, in Christ. The Old flawed you is replaced by a new you one who is being modelled by the master potter into something very special. You are constantly being shaped, refined until the day you move from this realm to the next. But one thing will remain constant within you and that is the joy, peace and contentment of knowing Jesus.
For He fills you with His Holy Spirit who leads guides and educates you with Gods Truth.
The Battle
Yes, there’s still a battle to be won but the true Christian remains unfazed. This fearless attitude stems from our guidance by the Spirit of the Living God. By submitting our will to God, we gain the power to resist lust retaliation greed selfishness spitefulness deceit and rebelliousness ultimately overcoming their relentless force. Victory is ours through Christ who strengthens us. His love and graciousness alone provide the strength we need to succeed. It’s the only path to victory.
- Submit to God (Relinquish your Will)
- Only then can you resist
- The Victory is so sweet as you realise that through Christ in me we now have the hope of Glory. (Joy unspeakable and full of Glory)
- Keep this process uppermost in your heart, because it is only when we endure to the end, that will have the right to enter Gods Kingdom.
- Stay an Overcomer through Christ who strengthens us.
The above instructions work! If you miss out the first you will fail.
Christianity isn’t a set of rules; it’s a relationship, a father-son bond founded on pure love. It’s a love between the Father and the Son and vice versa.
Consider when you fall in love. You want to do everything you can to please your beloved. However, it’s only when you’re hurt that things begin to deteriorate and you become spiteful.
So yes, there’s a battleground, life is a battleground. But the Christian has the victor over all things– obstacles, desires, doubts, fears and anything else life throws at us, including grief and sorrow. It is thought Christ alone, Christ in us the hope of Glory who strengthens us.
The key to victory is to swiftly dismiss any unwelcome thought that crosses your mind, no matter how tempting it may seem. The solution lies above, only in the order given, starting with number 1.
Begin by acknowledging your need for victory and surrendering to God. Ask Him to strengthen you in Jesus’ name and express gratitude for the assurance of victory. It’s incredible to realise that even the strongest desires begin to fade, replaced by an ecstasy that surpasses any earthly pleasure. Yielding to temptation is simply not an option.
The secret to success is trust and obedience. Jesus said if you ask a father for bread he wouldn’t give you a stone or a serpent if you asked for fish.
Our relationship with God is a love unlike any other. He loves us so deeply that He gave His only begotten Son to pay the price for our sins. When we repent, He remains faithful and just, forgiving our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.
