I was the typical Prodigal son
well brought up in a christian home and went off the rails received an inheritance of £352,00 when I was 21 blew it within 6 months and made a mess of my life.
I was miserable feeling stupid hopeless and helpless. I had walked from Crafthole in Cornwall (Where I Had Rented a winter let of a 3 bed farm cottage from Mr Andrews one of the local Farmers) to Plymouth and was sat having a cup of tea in a community center off of Union Street when
A chap of around 25 came in a guitar slung over his shoulder and sat down. I noticed a few other people got up and left. He turned to me and asked a very straight forward question;
"Would you like to be born again?"
My reply of "Yes I would love a new start". Was answered by "Repent ask the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart and you will be!" Well I wasn’t expecting that reply. Now as mentioned earlier I was brought up under the sound of the Gospel, but I cannot recall anything about being born again, I took the meaning as would you like the chance to start afresh that was the question in my mind that I was replying too..
When he said repent It brought to mind to men who went into a temple to pray one a Pharisee and the other a publican who were renowned sinners. The Pharisee stood up and boasted to God that thankfully he wasn’t like this sad publican no I pay my tithes he said I do this and I do that unlike this wretched publican
The Publican stood up beat his chest and cried out, Lord have mercy on me a sinner. Well that is the prayer that I spoke, and immediately hundredweights were lifted of of my shoulders I felt so light so free so peaceful I had never felt anything like it it was amazing I was having a Damascus experience, but different it wasn’t a light shinning about me but peace flowing over me I was lifted higher than the drugs had ever lifted me; I started to say Hallelujah it was so good.
So I Know beyond any doubt that God Is Real That God Is Faithful and Just and is just waiting to hear your cry too so that he can wrap his arms around you and set you free.
I will ask you this same question "Would You like to be born again?"
Don't Hesitate, say yes and mean it from the bottomof your heart. For God Is Real and will only answer Genuine requests.
